but, having checked on the websites of Amazon UK, Curry's, etc, the position seems to be much the same in the UK.
If you're considering alternatives to a Chromecast, either a Now TV stick or an Amazon Fire stick might be better but it depends upon exactly what it is that you want the device for. (They all convert a 'non-smart' TV into a 'smart' one but that won't give you anything at all worthwhile if your TV is already 'smart'. You need to think about what else it is you want from such a device).

Having just read the latest issue, 18 November to 1 December) of Computeractive magazine, they give a very comprehensive article on several TV sticks, ranging from Amazon Fire to Roku. Reading between the lines, it would seem that the Roku came out best. Might be worth getting a copy.Good luck.
