After months of being at home and then doing most of his lectures on line, he finally started his ambulance placement today. Didn’t even get to lunchtime and he finds out that one of his housemates has tested positive and now the lot of them have to self isolate :(
Trying to think positively about the situation, he's a lot better off than all those people who've been looking forward to something, only to then have it totally cancelled. By the nature of his course, the placement can only be postponed, so he should still get on it fairly soon.
One of his friends/housemates was on placement in the vague area so he got a lift back to their shared house. He’s v laid back about it all but a little concerned about getting the 500 hundred placement hours completed this academic year.
That’s v thoughtful Shoota but I have already been instructed to ‘chill’ - he’s probably better placed to self isolate than I am (but still v thoughtful, thank you),.
The boy’s sorted for food (one of his housemates booked a delivery slot). They’re going to binge tv shows (thanks to my Netflix, sky and amazon prime accounts) and have games marathons. Turns out the lad who tested positive only uses the house to sleep and they’ve not seen a lot of him. The county ambulance commander contacted him and the other paramedic student (who was actually in the middle of a call when he found out - they made him go outside and sit in the ambulance) to check how they were which I thought was nice considering how busy he must be.
