Desktop Computer & Printer Problem

Recently updated desktop to Windows 10. Connected printer at the time, lights came on but did not use printer at time. Now I need to use it, won't printed claiming it is not connected to USB. Have tried everything, uninstalling, changing usb leads & port, but my printer needs a pin number which I am unable to locate. The printer is a HP deskjet 1510.
Can anyone help?? I am at my wits end!!

Does that mean that you upgraded the operating system on an old computer from Windows 7 or Windows 8 or does it mean that you bought a new computer with Windows 10 on it? If it's the latter, did you install the printer driver when you were setting up your new computer?

You need to be quick or have a pen and paper ready with your specs on if you wear em. Just before and during the message showing on the printer screen it will show a pin number. You have 90 seconds or so to either remember it and enter it or write it down and enter it. Otherwise every time you switch on you will get a new pin number until you do. It is a printer issue not an os issue.

G'morning Sharon....The first thing I would do is visit the Doctor as indicated by Rondy, above^^^.

It costs nothing but in a few minute it might well identify your problem and automatically put matters right; or advise on screen a course of action. All without your saying a further word to anyone.

You'll loose nothing and wont do any harm by consulting the HP Doctor.
