La Dolce Vita?

I'm trying to remember the name of a brilliant film. It's in Italian with subtitles, and is about an Italian Jew and his son, before and during the war. It's a mixture of comedy and tragedy and it's great, but I can't for the life of me remeber what it's called. I thought it was La Dolce Vita but doesn't seem to work on IMDB. cheers.
