For the last 20 odd years I have believed that they had legs shorter on one side because of living on a hill. Last night I was informed that I was an idiot for believing this, so is it all a lie?

It's another urban myth, similar to the one perpetuated by soldiers and sailors returning from the Falklands, advising that the penguins had never seen planes before, and when the planes flew over, and the penguins looked up to follow their flight, they fell over, and patrols of soliders had to go ashore and help them back on their feet. Lots of people bleieve this even now - next time you go to a zoo, ask the pnguin keeper to 'tip' one over, and you will see that they scramble up again perfectly easily on their own!
