Missing Cheque
6 Answers
I sent a cheque to a funeral home (160miles away), made out to Cancer Research, as per the wishes of our friends widow three weeks ago ,it has still not been cashed, I emailed the home to see if they had received it , but they would only say that all cheques received had been passed on to Cancer Research. After all this time I have not had an acknowledgement nor has it been cashed, I don't like to ask the widow, what do you think I should do now ?

Once sent off to the charity they may well need extra time to bank it in the current climate. I am still sitting on a cheque sent to me for charity in my Mum's memory received nearly 3 weeks ago as I have not been anywhere the town.
I wd cancel the cheque which you can do without cost
as lost - which it is
then give direct to ca research under gift aid - which grosses up 25%
( 20% tax relief means there is a 25% up lift on the amount on the cheque - £80 becomes £100)
The funeral directors should NOT be anal about your own information - you wanted to know about a document wiv your name on it. You have a legal right to it
(clearly if a funeral directors burner doesnt work they can ring me up and .... )
