I now think Chris - they are mixing decks (whatever that is). Out of all my great nephews I'm hoping he has a flair for music as all of my own family had. I'll tape him singing hopefully when he is up at Christmas.
Barmaid, don't be too quick to get rid of wardrobes that seem too tall for upstairs. I found that wardrobes we had bought fully assembled could in fact be unassembled and taken upstairs, one was so tall that it had to be erected standing up, Pythagoras him say it couldn't be assempled then lifted! If I ever move it's staying here!
Hacker record players were expensive, Brainiac! My little Dansette was secondhand and, I suspect, a great deal cheaper but still lovely for an 8-year-old. It lasted well too; I sold it to a fellow student when I was doing my teacher training!
I dont think so Roy. It was a Panasonic. I was given some money for my 21st birthday and I bought (what was to me then) a fantastic hi fi with dual tape decks, a cd player and a turntable. I thought it was the mutt's nuts at the time. I have not used it for the best part of 15 years. I was quite surprised that at the tip the blokes there were on it like rats up a drain pipe.
I am now in 2 minds what to do with all my CDs. I do have another machine, but I tend to stream music and have wifi speakers so I can take the speakers to whichever room I happen to be messing up at the time (it is a standing joke that if I spend time in a room it is generally only to make a mess) and if we play music together, that is streamed through Mr BM's equipment (not that I know how to work all that).
A 'flair for music' is definitely something that I never had, Jennyjoan.
I worshipped my teacher in the 3rd year at junior school but I got upset when, during a class singing lesson, he said "Let's just try that one more time everyone and, Christopher, perhaps you wouldn't mind NOT singing this time" ;-)
A turntable is what my husband wants, once the house is done. He was looking at Now 35 on vinyl the other day. There was one on sale on eBay for £350. I wasn't going to pay that price!!
When I was in Krakow last year I was having a good mooch around the market in the Jewish Quarter and found a rare-ish Rolling Stones vinyl which I bought for OH.
my brother has the most expensive kit for playing his cds, he has always been into it and amps, tuners and heavens knows what, so it was a surprise when i found he had bought a deck
