Wales And Pub Law.

Bars and Pubs in Wales can be open but not sell alcohol.
Is there any law that says you can’t bring and consume your own into the premises, if people are missing that social aspect of a bar/pub.

i don't know about a law specific, someone must know but when i worked in pubs no one could bring their own booze, let alone food. What would be the point of a pub being open if everyone bought their own

Thanks emmie my question is related to the situation now. One of the answers I noticed in your link is below.
They can legally allow you to drink your own alcohol on the premises without charging you a fee. (Muslim restaurant owners will often do this; where their religion disallows them to sell alcohol but they still permit people to drink it on the premises).

all i know is it wasn't permissable to have customers bring their own, restaurants may be different

Don't think you can in a pub but in a restaurant you can in some and they then charge a Corkage fee.

yes you generally get charged a corkage fee if you bring your own to a restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol.

i wouldn't go to any pub with a bottle of beer under my arm, not in Wales, not anywhere -
they are pouring beer down the drains in many pubs, can see a lot closing before long

There is the "law" of the pubs themselves which will not allow you to take your own booze while they are fighting for survival. Support them by having soft drinks with your meal and posh coffees afterwards!

our pub meals are expensive so haven't been to any for a while, not going to lash out 15 quid for a burger and some soggy chips, just to have a drink.

Where on earth do you go, emmie, where you have to pay £15 for a burger and chips? Many pubs I know (not Wetherspoons, which is even cheaper but which many people don't like) do a similar meal for between £7 and £10. For example, a "Classic Burger" here is just £9.49:

a local pub attached to a hotel. They charge 15 quid for a burger chips, and same for fish and chips. Our other pubs aren;t that much cheaper.
