Now that the point has been made, should politics be taken out of sport, and sportsmen and women should now stop, '' Taking The Knee?''

THAT is your issue? Seems petty but your choice, as it is their choice to take the knee.

Trevor - // Andy, they chose to pay for it, //
Actually, they chose to pay to watch a football match - inappropriate time-consuing ego-stroking comes as an univited unwelcome extra.
// ... are you suggesting the Milwall fans were right to boo because they had to wait a few seconds..??? //
No, I am not suggesting anything.
My previous OP on this subject stated my position - that the assumption that the fans' booing because they don't approve of petty posturing does not make them racists, as the FA clearly believes, hence its 'investigation' into the matter.
I think the fans are right to express their displeasure if they wish - and that is their right.
It's not what I would do, but that's free speech.

Ok, seems your only angst is that its just become a bit embarrassing and awkward after the initial euphoria then? //
I would hesitate to call it 'angst' - and my issue is not so much with the embarassment of an American token looking silly here - it's that fans' hostility towards it has been automatically read as being racist, and I think that is invalid and unacceptable.
// I still think if they want to take the knee they can. I shan't mock them or boo. I'm not enlightened or woke, just grown up. //
Of course, they can - as long as they accept that hostility towards it does not make those who do not appreciate it racists.
