Snapping Hip Syndrome?
15 Answers
For a good while now I have had hips that click when I go from sitting to standing – the click is where my leg joins my body at the front/near to groin. Now, if I don’t click them, I can’t stand up. This evening the left one won’t click and I can’t stand up or wait bear, because it feels like something is out of place. I’ve also had issues with my fibula on the same side – it clicked, and I couldn’t straighten my leg for ages. Also my ankle on that side clunks badly and easily subluxes. I’m getting pretty desperate now, as I am on my own and can’t walk at all. Because of Covid I can’t even get Help to come to me. Any advice gratefully received.

This is very normal for me, being unable to move; with EDS since March/lockdown I’ve had foot drop, torn L5 disc and had out of joint ankles and knees. As I live alone I just have to wait it out. I’ve been to A&E twice and don’t want to go again- where I live is one of the worst places for COVID in the country. I just wondered if anyone had had snapping hip syndrome and what they did for it?
Bit late now but not if, but when it happens again, don't panic.
Yes it is painful and no I have never had that problem and no I don't have EDS.
Try to relax, take Ibuprofen 400mgms every 4 hours OR Paracetamol 1,000mgms every four hours. A hot water bottle if you are mobile enough will help and try to "wriggle " it back into place.
If after 4 hours and no improvement then call an ambulance.

Thanks Sqad and all; I called my doc and she has put in for Rapid Response (social services) but said that most people going into hospital come out with covid at the moment. She also said take pain killers and try and keep moving. If I went to hospital I really don’t think they would be able to do anything.
