Is 'love' a temporary form of insanity?
(Seriously, its been proposed before in psychological circles)

Same thing to me barry, one is pure emotion and the other is emotion plus sexual fulfillment and I like my definition better.

//////Sqad, in love and in lust are sides of the same coin. I think you prefer it when it lands on lust, doesn't ask so much in return./////

Exactly.......it worked/works for me.
Love hurts. Lust tastes slightly salty, or is that crisps?
One thing I have learned is love can thrive with emotional intimacy even when the physical side is denied through circumstance. lust is a thing of novelty and usually not worth the tissues
I agree with that, Rowan. My OH said he could live without sex (if he had to) but couldn't live without affection.
Nice to know isn't it?
I have never been in that situation but if I had to choice between love and affection, then I would choose affection and find love (sex) elsewhere as do most of the men from the European countries.
However, I have never had to make that choice.
Dave asked me if I wanted to find sex elsewhere, I didn't.... Couldn't countenance it. However in my first marriage when it was obvious my husband didn't want it I felt ok about finding playmates keeping it uncomplicated. First sign of emotional involvement I would end it.

That was because you didn't want sex that much and you couldn't be bothered with the effort of looking for it in a disappearing market.
Ah, sex, I remember that. Last thing at night and first thing in the morning.

Now it's cocoa at night and a cuppa in the morning.
No Sqad, still had options but the offer was made from a point of vulnerability and I knew what it cost him to say it.
rowan...don't buy it.
You tell him what he wants to hear and he tells you what you want to hear.
Reality is often quite the reverse of what was said.
There was no reply from you when i answered your question as to would I sacrifice my life for Mrs sqad. I presume if I had answered YES,then you would have said that, that was love.
No Sqad, I would have said you were lying.
I think Dave might have risked his life for me, but knowing he was dying a reciprocal arrangement would have been pointless. He made the offer due to our age difference, before we were married . If I had been able to accept I would have cancelled the wedding knowing exactly what I was giving up. Who knows what may come one lives in hope of one more adventure.
OK rowan gf
LOL.
I’m afraid sqad isn’t lying, rowan.

i’ve listened to blokes all my life, and am now, coming to its end, convinced that the majority of men are at best self-centred when it comes to relationships, and at worst utter pigs.

If your Dave was an exception, then cherish his sweet memory. He is not just one in a million. He is one in MANY millions.
