Has anyone taken up new hobbies, pastimes or ventures in the past nine months? Anyone written their life story, learning a new language, discovered the joys of drawing or painting, joined in Zoom sessions with people sharing long-held interests, learning to play a musical instrument, or discovered new delights previously unconsidered?

I’ve been one with all good intentions but have discovered that whilst the spirit is willing, the flesh has turned out to be rather weak. Something to address with a new-found determination in the New Year perhaps.

I've always wished I could paint. When I had granddaughter stay in the summer, we bought some acrylic paint, board, brushes.
I looked on line for ideas for beginners. We tried dipping paint in scrunched up bubble wrap, and we done some trees! Very impressive results. When she went home, I continued to do my own stuff. Although copied ideas on YouTube, I'm very pleased with myself!

Gardening, small scale whilst I was working out if I enjoyed it or not but have now invested in several new raised beds and loads of seeds and a spanking cold frame cannot wait for February

I haven’t taken up new hobbies but found more time for sewing and knitting. My family bought material so I have been busy making Disney, Christmas and snowflake masks and my grandson wanted a scarf for his football club. During the better weather, I spent time doing the garden. I don’t think it has ever been so tidy!

I've been trying to figure out how to work the wildlife trail camera I bought a while back. Still haven't done it. My brain has definitely shrunk, seriously.

I've mostly been working but also playing Township which I'm kind of addicted to. First half of lockdown was spent helping son with homelearning on class dojo.

If I could afford it I would've bought loads of Lego sets to build. That's my hobby :o)

Not new, but continuing with on line music lessons, and have been for some time now. May be 2/3 more to go then, then its just down to me and how many tunes I care to learn.

I've bought a ton of books. One of these days I'll find the time to sit down and actually start reading. I bet I'll have books among my Christmas presents too.

a lot of simpler computation - mainly first year college
a lot of pure math - year after A level
not much phys or chem - no organic chem
No zoology, not very much biology,

unbelievable amount of Godel and computation

languages - ancient of course - no egyptology, no coptic. No Latin, koine Greek up to O level, no noob up to any level or any ( Mahass Dongolawi Meroitic ). No Latin play - the odd Greek one - no lit crit or translation

Millions of Arabic ( all dialects spoken and Modern standard and classical) - a lot on reading Quran but they usually peter out by Hour 10.

Unbelievable amount of crazy archology. Standard archeology is well represented and has been widely rewritten over the last 20 y ( DNA mainly)
Rhind Lectures are current - more than you ever wanted do know about Scots neolithic

Tufts Perseus has a big classical library
and if you click on a classical word - - leef-thee then it tells you where it comes from(leipo) and what part of speech it is ( aor pass) so you can start on the decent classics far earlier than we could

oh and dont forget to take the dog out

Merry Christmas Naomi, Only a part time hobby but a craft non-the-less, I can now quite easily finish a whole pack of jaffa cakes in one sitting.

unbelievable amount of practice required. My cousin wasnt bad at 16 - and after sixty years of daubing - it still looks like an A level portfolio. He threw out a cheap Graham Sutherland print because everyone said "christ pavel pavelovitch, are you selling any of these new ones?"
