I have just booked a Hurtigruten 12 day Norway coast cruise for January 2022.
I appreciate that it is a ‘cruise’ but they are not cruise ships. They are ferries for all the ports along the coast.
Question is do I need specific cruise insurance or standard travel insurance.
Hurtigruten do not deal with insurance themselves. Thank you.

Hurtigruten trades as a cruise company, rather than as a ferry company. Even their advertised port-to-port services are sold on the basis of their tourist potential (e.g. with excursions available), rather just as a means of getting from A to B. ( https://www.hurtigruten.co.uk/port-to-port/#/ ). So I'd suggest that it might be wisest to ensure that your insurance cover includes cruises.

If you book through Hurtigruten's partner, Columbus Direct, yo should be sure that you've got appropriate cover:

Thank you Chris. No 2022 dates available yet but I will definitely check them out.
erm I wd probably wait until later next year
when things are clearer

otherwise covid will be included/costed in as a risk when it may not be as (future ) facts show

Fair point Peter P, thank you.
We just had our ordinary insurance when we did this trip I didn't even realise that there is specific cruise insurance! You'll have a great time, we really enjoyed it, so jealous! The excursions tend to be very expensive as are the drinks on board, because we were allowed two pieces of checked luggage we took a couple of wine boxes with us!
