...For some reason birds keep flying into my back kitchen window.....not just pecking at it but in full flight.....sometimes they are just shaken up but this week alone I have had two fatalities........ a **** sparrow and a male blackbird...........I wish I knew why they are doing this .....none of my neighbours have the problem and it's just this one window. So Upsetting for me and my wife..........even more for the poor birds..............I have seen shapes of hawks etc stuck on windows but really don't want to do that unless as a last resort.

Do you have a blind up or something that shows them the cant fly into it?? or as the think trough it??
It's happened to us a couple of times - as you say very upsetting. there are lots of house sparrow nests round about and the crashes seem to happen to newly-fledged birds - we put it down to the little fliers inexperience, Blackbirds are notoriously daft, look at the way they fly across roads at windscreen level
A link to stop the birds hitting your window.

had this problem a couple of years back, the birds could see a passage through two adjoining windows but couldn't distinguish the windows between. Ended up making a cross of insulating tape so the window was visible. Don't know if it helps but worked for us
Don't worry about it - by weeding out the stupid ones (i.e. the ones who try to fly through plate glass windows) you're actually giving nature a helping hand in speeding up the process of natural selection.

Well...some good advice there and a few things to try...........I like the one on the link from Koz which says "keep your windows dirty"......can't see 'er indoors going for that <g> ...and jenstar PLEASE say that was just tongue in cheek............it made me laugh but a little bit drastic even for me. From the advice here I went out and looked along the flightpath as it were and it does actually look as though the sky just follows on through the window, if you can visualize that!

Thanks again for all your posts ....very helpful.
