Insurance Not Needed?
37 Answers
Over the past few months I have read these reports in the news:
1. Young man killed last night when stolen car he was driving crashed in to a tree. His sister has set up a GoFundMe page to 'give him the send off he deserves'.
2. A woman is in a coma in the USA after sustaining life threatening injuries in a jet ski accident. She didn't have adequate insurance and her family has set up a GoFundMe page to cover her hospital bills.
3. A family is devastated when their house burned down. They have set up a GoFundMe page as they didn't have insurance.
Is this the way it is going to be?

If you do get your car back, it can be damaged in many ways other than body work damage, if the damage to bodywork is very bad then the car can be written off by you're insurance company, and you will get the bear minimum market value for your car. There can also be engine damage done that's not always apparent when you get it back, if its been driven at high speed for long periods, and trashed at high speed in the wrong gears, this sort of damage is hard to prove at a later date when you discover it, and even if the insurance company pay for repair, you will suffer the higher premiums in the coming years, not to mention all the hassle of being without a car for a period of time, if you have no hire cover. It beats me why when someone steals a car and trashes it they are not forced to pay back the complete loss however long it takes them to pay it back, rather than a stupid fine and a driving ban of 12 months, leaving everyone else with thousands of pounds loss.
// And why house insurance are willing to pay out but car insurance makes it difficult?//
both difficult - and it is post code driven. James McF used to send in lads to burgle my neighbours houses and if he found an insurance cert in the goodies they brought back - would write to the company and say the claim was a put up job (*)
I did wonder why the claims were so hard to make - both times the back door had been axed down.
(*) he just did it - that even strained my sense of humour .....
