Been out the shops today for the first time since 23/12 and Morrisons are selling Easter eggs, or should I say they are on display. Don't know if anyone is buying them yet. Give us a break!

Give us a break! Not very likely I'm afraid, the only reason they are on sale is because they know they are going to sell. Don't blame the retailers, blame the shoppers that buy them so early.
But the shoppers only buy them because they are on the shelves !
Shoppers don't have to buy them, they choose to buy them. And as long as they do the shops will have them on display.
When is Easter? When does chocolate go off?
No, your argument doesn't make sense, I will say again, they only buy them because they are there and not everybody buys them anyway, I don't. The retailers are at fault, not the shoppers.

I think Easter Sunday is the 4th April, the shelf life will almost certainly be longer than that.
What came first, the shopper or the egg?
Sorry burlyshirley, this could go around in circles for ever, I think we should agree to differ. Happy New Year.
But I'm the one who is right - Happy New Year !!
That's a good one Doug, should it be in yokes?
They know fine well if an Easter egg is sold today it will be eaten on a wet, cold night in February and will have to be replaced before Easter arrives.
Morrison's were selling expensive Belgium chocolate Yule logs with fresh cream in October. They had a shelf life of only a few days and couldn't be frozen.
Careful there barry, you'll have shirley after you!
What's so surprising? Hot-cross buns are available all year in most supermarkets...
So are mince pies, Ginge,

Threads like this are posted every year along with xmas adverts and xmas songs in shops.
what, are they skipping Valentine's Day merchandise altogether?
9:53 no I was only after you today and I'm still right.

Of course that's correct. To be purchased they have to be available and the shops are in control of that availability. It wouldn't matter how much the shopper wanted to buy them - if they were not available they could not be bought.

That said, I'm sure shops would not stock goods which will not be sold and which take up their shelf space. So once they are in the shops, whether they sell or not is under the control of the shopper. But they have to be available for the customer to be able to exercise that control.
