My Sky has packed up. Got an engineer coming Thursday.. in the meantime was looking at my TVs manual. To record channels it states to connect a FAT32 usb in to the port. On googling I’ve read it needs formatting via a PC. I don’t own one. Do all my internet via iPad and phone. Any ideas please.

Chances are any USB stick will be formatted correctly especially if it states something along the lines of ‘works with Windows’. Failing that you’d need to get access to a computer to format the stick.
If you've got a memory stick connect it to the tv and see if it will record. If it's the wrong format buy a FAT32 memory stick, they are cheap enouh
There are two formats, FAT32 and NTFS, both developed by Microsoft and so both work with Windows.

Stick your mask on and tap on a friendly neighbour techies door with a spare box of choccies as a bribe.
You shouldn't need to format it - it should work straight out of the box.
