I have had my PS2 for 3 years. I once tried a CD (music) in the disk drive and ever since then, it makes a chugging sound, like it is strugling to read the disk. It has effects on some of my games by freezing them. It doesn't happen all the time but could any1 give me any info on what to do? Thanx

Always try cleaning the CD lens first.
I've known many friends to have the same problem with there ps2's but not necessarily after putting in a music cd. We all believe it is a problem with the ps2 that after a while it struggles to read discs due to dirt build up. I remember a couple of friends who's ps2's wouldn't work at all unless you turned them upside down. I think it's just a fault with the machine and after a few years they all star to pack up a bit. Not to worry just but a ps3 when they come out, then a ps4, then a ps5, then a ps6......etc etc. money grabbing corporate wane@s!
i had that problem lots of times i gone through like 8 ps2s because of it the shop said it was a falty batch mine so far seems to be going strong, my ps2 would scuff (leave rubbed markings) the games so they wernt readable, i just sent mine back and got a new on on guarantee
Unscrew the casing, (may need a trip to the shop for very small screwdriver) hoover the bits, alter the lens, bobs your uncle, done it loads of times, always works, DONT pay extortionate prices if you want step by step guidelines, let me know, and I'll put my son on.
my daughters will play PS2 games fine , but PS1 games just chugg along and get disc error message - I was told that its a faulty laser ??
