Water in a plastic jug with a whole lemon or lime chopped into it.
Put it in and let it boil leave so the citrus infused steam covers the inside and them wipe it out with paper towels repeat as necessary
i've had this one to hand for ages but never had the opportunity to try it, so no promises

I set fire to a garlic bread in my microwave (don't ask) and the lemon in water thing worked after a couple of go's. Is its only a microwave or is it a grill or oven as well?

oveny type thing too. never been used though
ah.....you may need to use the oven function to burn residue off the oveny bits. I had to do that as well as use the lemon thing
Had to look up what yak milk bone was!

Anyhoo.....I've used a mixture of baking soda, lemon juice and water in the past. Just boil it in the microwave for about 5-6 mins and wipe thoroughly afterwards. Leave the door open for a while as well.
Treat yourself to a nice New Year microwave and leave the other one for cooking Yak Milk Bones!

I think I might! I just did jnos solution but did not work, so thought I'd look at the element and omg the roof of the micro was so vile it nearly made me puke! I guess I have never cleaned that bit ever
I’ve just had to google why you’d microwave a yak milk bone as our dog loves gnawing on them and I’ve never microwaved one.
Interestingly, only yesterday we threw out the very last bit of one before he swallowed it. Must try microwaving the very last bit next time (40 seconds it says) and see what happens.
You learn something new everyday...
Well, I fished the last bit out of the kitchen bin as I was very curious to see what happened.
Microwaved it for 40 seconds, nothing happened. Did a further 10 seconds, bit of a change. Did 20 seconds more and wow, it puffed up and completely changed!
Let it cool down and gave it to dog, who after sniffing and poking it suspiciously for 20 seconds, crunched his was through this wonderful honeycombed thing, not a crumb of it left.
Brill! (Sorry bednobs, no help with your microwave problem)
