I am in the process of buying a house. My father has gifted me 60% of the deposit. The solicitor has held a telephone conversation with my father to confirm that he has gifted me this and that he had no personal or financial interest in the property.
The solicitor says he will get back to us. How much longer is this likely to take?

We gave our 2 grandsons some money towards a house. One solicitor wanted us to sign a form confirming it was a gift and we had no financial interest in the property, the other didn't bother. The delay was minimal.

But my father has already written a gift letter confirming it is a gift and he had no financial interest in the property, He has also confirmed this in the telephone conversation with the solicitor
I can't see why there should be any delay then.

In my experience solicitors take as long as they can to bump up the bill.
