Graphical images can be useful but can be manipulated. Repetitive identical graphical images can have a profound effect and affect, many think the enormous repetition of showing of the 9/11 towers falling was done for ulterior reasons - they had the footage for building 7 but it seemed to not warrant such exposure.
Looking at an article in the Daily Mail, Metro, etc. the large amounts of photographs swamps the actual words used.
Adverts are predominately images, for a reason.
