One of my all-time favourite films, and I have never liked anything else Tarrantino has done before.
Apparently someone counted up the number of times the 'n' word is used - and it clocks in at one hundred and twelve - forty-six times by black characters.
I think that speaks to the authenticity of the film setting - this was a time and a culture when that word was simply a description and a label, it had no actual derogatory connotation in the way that it does today.
The idiocy of applying modern attitudes to historical language and actions is all over this film - but it's still a great piece of cinema.
I've kind of gone off Tarantino. He set such a high bar with Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, most of what came after was disappointing in comparison. I gave up on him after Inglorious Basterds.

I urge you to check out this film.
I have never remotely enjoyed anything he has done before, but this is such a fantastic piece of work, it deserves your attention.
It's a love story, about a man who is utterly independent in his mind, regardless of his circumstances, and determined to get back the woman he loves, and he will destroy anything and anyone in his way.
Mozz, I did much the same with Late Tarantino, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is wonderful. I didn't think much of IB and haven't seen Django or that other western one.
Okay Andy, I'm downloading it froms Sky as we speak. If I dislike it, and by the sounds of it you held QT in even less regard than I did (Ressy Dogs is a classic in my view), I will hold you responsible ;-)

If you watch it from the point of view of a love story - and revenge and redemption, which is what it is, I think you may come to love it as much as I do.
I have always thought, if I was Michael Jackson and I wanted to look different than I did, I would have gone to my plastic surgeon, showed him a picture of Jamie Fox and said "Make me look like that ...".
