Yet again they’ve rang doorbell and then driven off after leaving parcel in porch - that isn’t even for me! It’s for my neighbour - who is in! I haven’t signed for it or anything. It’s about the 3rd or 4th time they’ve done this lately - left parcels for various different neighbours. It’s as though they see I’m the only house with a porch, they can’t be bothered to wait on right doorstep for occupier to come to the door so they just chuck it in my porch, ring my bell and walk off. If I was guy next door I’d be very tempted to ring Amazon and say what parcel?? It’s not arrived. Send a replacement!
Rant over lol....

They don't accept signatures now, they take photos of the parcel in situ and where possible the house number, too. You could contact Amazon and get them to collect the parcel

I just txt neighbour and he’s picked it up. God knows why they do it tho!
They do it because their workload is horrendous (imagine how much it has increased during lockdown) and their rates of pay are poor. Just be a good egg and pass on any parcels that are left on your door step that are not for you (and count yourself lucky that you’re safe and sound at home and they’re out working).
or leave a note up that says please dont leave other parcels here.
or lock your porch
You need to mention it to the amazon driver - we get the same delivery drivers regular in are culdesac
We had one who used to ring lots of doorbells, try the necessary house and if no answer give it to anyone who had appeared. I asked him once why he did it and he said 'they don't like it when we take parcels back'.
It's understandable to be annoyed, Smow, but I agree with Sherr. At least they know parcel is safe. :-)
Smowball are you sure your neighbours dont put you down as a taker of their parcel or tell the courier to leave it there as a safe place, that options available when you post on line with some couriers, but they should ask or tell you if thats the case!
I had a truly bizarre situation a few years ago, albeit nothing to do with Amazon. I returned home, to find a card saying that nobody was in, so the package has been left round the back of the house. There was a package, clearly addressed to no.35, which is across the road from me. The next day, the woman from no.35 came across, with a card, stating the package had been left with a neighbour at no.38. Why did they not just leave the package round the back at no.35?

No I’ve spoken to neighbour who was baffled they left it with me as he was in his lounge working from home. He says they definitely didn’t ring his doorbell.
Of course I pass on all parcels - was just annoyed as I’m decorating top floor and was up a ladder!
Sherrardk has it dead right. Van drivers, Amazon's in particular, are paid awful rates of pay, have to deliver absurd number of parcels each hour, and are penalized if they don't deliver in their shift what their bosses tell them to.

Yes, there are annoying habits, but have some sympathy.

A
Mine often goes to a completely different street and when I finally get it I say to the kindly man who's house it seems to go to, tell them it's not yours, you're in the street and point to where my street is
*wrong*
Only Royal Mail put things in my porch. Amazon always knock and wait.

A few weeks back a lady across the road knocked and asked had I taken a parcel in. They'd left her a note but didn't say what number it was at.

I do have sympathy for them - sorry if I sounds as though I don’t.
One delivery the bloke came through my front door and through the second door and was standing in my hallway. A bit freaky when you're here on your own.

I've asked OH to put a lock on the second door.

Ummmm that’s naughty of him!! Think I’d freak out if I saw a stranger in my house!
Complain to that 'operations manager ' in that Amazon advert
Smow - I was very annoyed. The main postie opens the front door, puts the package in and shouts POSTIE and closes the door.
Question Author
He really really shouldn’t have done that - could scare someone to death who is of a nervous disposition!
A guy I know works for DPD. He said it wasn’t unusual to have 125 separate drops a day. No wonder they get stressed.
