When she does her seven mile walks, does the cameraman walk with her, or go off in his car to the next location, or does she go in his car with him? Or does she really really walk seven miles?

She insists she walks the whole of every route but there is a lot of pre-planning so she never gets lost
Given that a 7-mile walk, even in the hills and at a casual pace, doesn't take more than about three hours but that a whole day's filming is dedicated to each walk, it's perfectly possible that the whole crew complete each of the walks together.

Indeed, despite all of the advance planning that obviously takes place, such a way of working would provide the director with more flexibility, as he/she could then choose the best locations for lighting or when, say, he/she can get brooding clouds into a shot.

Seven miles is not very far.
I’m assuming it cannot be done by car, so the crew will do it too.
I expect she is carried in a sedan chair between takes :)
Ah, the mystery of television...Bit like Michael Portillo on his worldwide train journeys and never a suitcase in sight...books into his overnight hotel carrying just the railguide book...if only real life were like that!
while we are on the subject, cant I just recommend the series "winter walks" on BBC4 to everyone?
I would love to travel like that, ginge - the whole itinerary planned and booked in advance, serfs to carry the luggage and get me from A to B hassle free, guides and translators on hand, permission to go where Average Joe cannot and 'have a go' at everything.
And obviously somebody following with a portable steam iron to see to my linen jacket every time I take it off :D
Great series, bednobs, I enjoyed every one
me too! it was just very gentle. I was surprised at how long the walks took those people
I'd like to offer my services as a walking companion/veracity checker to the fragrant Ms Bradbury.

No fee is required.
I'd like to offer Ms. Bradbury a bed in my cottage if she is in the area - and dinner thrown in!
