we seem to get a lot of programes" the hundred best" this that and the other .does anyone know who decides the content and/or the order these things fall into. no one asks me

They vary...

Some are from a certain age group, say 18 -25 yr olds, so if it is the top 100 films - you will only ever see recent ones listed, not any classics of 20 yrs ago, due to them not having seen them...

Often it is a select choice of celebrities or comedians for the 100 best comedians or film stars...

The recent best british female actors and best male actors (British) were by half a dozen actors/actresses...

On the songs: best singer: best lyrics: best romantic song: etc etc are usually people in the media i.e. D J's music journalists, singers...

Permissions to broadcast clips will have a big bearing on the line up too.

The latest (or one of them) about Top Films of All Time (which the outcome surprised many) was probably because the judges were in the film industry, and looked at the overall making of the film, not just the content that the average guy on the street would have choosen it for. Technical, photography, props are taken into consideration by the experts in films...

Apparently the 50 Greatest Comedy Films on last night was decided by a Channel 4 website poll, so I assume they're calculated using surveys (although never filled in one myself)
