broadband without landline

I've got broadband coming through my BT line and my ISP provider is Virgin. I hardly ever use my landline telephone and was wondering if I'm able to cancel this but still keep my broadband?
My phonebills are never more than �10 for calls but Line rental and the rest is ridiculously priced. Can I cut this out at all?

If you are in a cable area, you can have broadband without the telephone line.

You would not be able to use Virgin though.

woodchopper, I pay around �50 for line rental and VAT and I think that's ludicrus prices

Happy face youv`e got me confused. If your broadband`s with BT how have you got virgin as your`e isp surlely thats BT. My line rental is �30 a quarter then broadband on top

I have a standard BT line for the phone and it's the BT line which got split by Virgin as they're my broadband provider
