Charlotte Church's TV show

I thought it clearly showed Charlotte is way too young & inexperienced to hold her own show. She seemed to be trying oh so hard to be cool and trendy and, as she never looked comfortable, it wasn't easy to watch. Her repeated swearing appeared a pathetic attempt to throw off her early angelic image. Audience & guests (Gawd, doesn't Denise V O look old!) pandered to her, & I imagine that's her whole problem as a person - no-one dare tell her where she's going wrong. Probably stems from having an absent Dad, wayward stepdad and a troubled mum who hangs on her every word. Oh, the perils of celebrity. What did you make of CC the presenter?

I thought it was very amateurish. The way everyone was reading the auto cue was unbelievable. Even in the sketches. DOH...

I'm with Robinia, it was so dreadful that i had to stop watching it. As soon as she started singing that song i sensed trouble and i wasn't dissapointed.

I like Charlotte Church,but to host her own show - nah. I agree with Wendilla - she should stick to what she knows best. Maybe in a few years time,she will be just right to have her own show.

First bad sign was the theme tune: leaving aside the fact she seemed to have no lower register in her voice, the "this is my theme tune, yes it's my theme tune" routine was a direct ripoff from the 80s comedy show The Gary Shandling Show, which the CC Show producers presumably hoped no-one would notice.

Other aspects also borrowed heavily from US shows. The attempts at topicality, the guest presenters, the sidekick - what was that bloke from I'm Alan Partridge thinking? The "humorous" features which are announced and then get a caption & a jingle... it's all a horrendous mishmash of Letterman, Late Show, SNL, etc, only a hundred times worse. When will UK programme makers stop being in thrall to US chat shows and trying to copy them, only to fail miserably?

Within the first few mins alone we had lame humour that limped between worn-out and childishly abusive. The comedian co-presenter actually cracked a "scots are tight-fisted" gag. Is it 1973 already? Van Outen, who should sack her hair and make-up advisor, dutifully read a gag that combined the tired old chestnuts of Ewan Blair vomiting and isn't-Cherie-ugly. I have to confess this is where I switched over. But something tells me it didn't suddenly improve exponentially after this. Did anyone here sit through the whole thing? Did anyone catch the credits and see who's writing it?

I don't get Church. I still haven't understood why she suddenly became such a media celebrity. She can sing and as far as her move into pop music goes, I've heard worse. Maybe she senses he adult career will be shortlived and is trying to cram as much as possible in now. I can't imagine many people will be interested in 10 years' time.
