Hrt And Dvt Risks
8 Answers
I have been taking HRT for 2 months now for horrendous Menopause symptoms (I am 50) - Estrogen and Estrogen/Progesterone - it started working within days and has been brilliant for hot flushes, aching bones, and generally a better mood. However, my Mum reminded me that she had DVT in her leg in her early 70's twice - and she is now on Warfarin for the rest of her life.. Now I am scared to continue with it. I have a telephone appointment with my Doctor tonight. Any thoughts.

it is a judgement only you can make
(and is a replay of the covid vaxx 'discussions'- I am at an age of dying from covid so I know I wont have the vacca because my arm might swell....
in 1905 my granddaydy found the Pasteur vaccine so awful for rabid dog bite that he abandoned it at day X and said - I will take my chances. he didnt die)

As someone who has been there when there were less HRT choices, I think PP has it bang to rights. I went through menopause cold turkey because the complementary stuff didn't work and the HRT stuff made me go batpoo crazy although it did stop the flushes dizzy spells and aches and pains. However when I started throwing things DH and I decided I'd better try doing without. We don't know why your Mum had a DVT and being on warfarin is not the end of the world although nobody wants to be I guess. So do your cost benefit analysis. If it was me I would try an HRT holiday and then decide...not out of fear but with knowledge.
