Does anybody know of a fast track rout into the merchant navy. My 16 year old son is hell bent on joining!

He is 16 year old so I believe he has completed his 10th standard, for the below requirement he needs to complete 17.5 years ....

Direct Entry Stream (DES) is for the candidates those who are interested in joining merchant navy after 10th/12th/ ITI but having less than 40% marks in English. Candidates without Sponsorship can directly apply to our designated office or contacts for registration. On completing the registration process a Call Letter will be sent to candidates to appear for, Examination, Interview& DG Approved Medical with schedule dates. Shortlisted Candidates will be called to join the Program with 100% placement guarantee.

Eligibility Criteria: 10th Pass / ITI with minimum 35% Marks in English & 40% Overall

Age Limit: 17.5 Years to 30 Years.

Medical Standards: Should be physically fit for sea and should meet the medical standards laid by the Director General of shipping.

Eye Sight / Vision: Use of corrective lenses for eyesight is permitted but the maximum permissible limits, at entry, are 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in better eye and 6/18 in another eye for distant unaided vision. Color blindness is not permitted.
