A fridge freezer has been sitting on the frontage of a house on our road for weeks now

Today a rag and bone man came on the street but did not take the item in question

I'm curious as to why he left it

Is it to do with CF gasses in the fridge freezer do you think ?

CFCs were banned 26 years ago. Unless it is a very old fridge, it is unlikely to have any CFCs.
Perhaps there isn’t enough metal in it. Mostly a thin wrapper then plastic and foam inside.
Yes he would only want to sell it on to a scrappie, but there is probably so little metal that it isn't economic to recycle it.
They have to be licensed and pay to dispose of fridges and freezers. Your council will take it for a fee
yeah I thought their disposal was regulated = no moolah in it
Yes, I had 3 items for the council to take away. Microwave disappeared overnight. But the fridge freezer had a part taken out and the plug cut off. The rest was left.
Our council takes it away for free
Ours charges for 1-3 items. £45.
my council not only charge A LOT to take stuff away, they also turn stuff down. They wouldn't take away a dog folding car cage as its "not a domestic item" and I had to swear and promise that a filing cabinet had only ever been used at home and never ever been used in an office....and fly tipping is escalating here. Its cheaper to get a licenced private waste firm than use the council service!
My council charges £27 to collect a fridge freezer.
AO took my old one for £20.
Was that when they delivered the one you bought from them, Dave?
My council refused to collect a fridge because" it was too heavy for our driver and mate but if I took it in my car to the recycling depot they would gladly accept it".
"Was that when they delivered the one you bought from them, Dave?"

yes
