I've been looking at this
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-55904289

The £16 for a posh burger doesn't seem too outrageous to me. It's not much dearer than the prices charged by many burger restaurants, such as Byron, and (as far as I can tell from that article) it does at least come ready cooked.

However £105 (for two people) for the Northcote boxes does seem somewhat pricey to me, especially when one considers that
(a) the portions are miniscule - see the picture in the article ; and
(b) you've got to cook it yourself!
(Website here, for anyone who's tempted: https://www.northcote.com/at-home/gourmet-boxes )

The £90 boxes from the White Swan (again, for two people) might appear slightly better but
(a) you've still got to cook it yourself ;
(b) the price for their current offering is actually £110 ( https://www.whiteswanatfence.co.uk ) ; and
(c) the pictures here show that they don't exactly believe in big portions either!

So who here will be rushing to order then?

The only take away food I've ever eaten is fish and chips from a proper chip shop which I have collected. I have never had a take away delivered.
The most expensive was £10 in that Norfolk
Basically I wouldn't order a takeaway even if they were available. It's not something I would think of doing. I would rather get a home cooked meal out of the freezer.
> I thought the idea of a burger is that you can pick it up and eat it like a sandwich. Those stacked up jobs just fall apart when you touch them, leaving you with a plate full of "makings".

aka "a deconstructed burger" ...
Occasionally we have had excellent Indian food delivered. On Sunday there’s a family special meal for 4 people for £20 +£1 delivery. Four popadoms, four starters, three main courses, three sundries. There’s only the 3 of us so we cool half of it and it feeds us the next day. We can choose anything but some things we pay a small suppler for and it’s never cost us more than £25 including delivery. Thank
you get all that for 20 quid plus delivery, crikey thats incredibly cheap
I keep seeing an ad on Facebook for a Cornish cream tea from a company in Cornwall and it has rave reviews. The photo shows a hamper, a teapot with the company logo, a mug with the logo, four scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam and four teabags - all for £20 plus delivery. A bargain!
When you order and have input all your details you see that what you actually get is four scones, four teabags, a teeny pot of clotted cream (half the size of what I buy from the supermarket for £2) and 4 teeny pots of jam. Scandalous. If you want the hamper (no size given) it is an extra £20.
I left a negative comment on the site and my comment was immediately removed and I can no longer leave a comment. That's one company for me to avoid.
