Well, That Was Embarrassing!

In the upstairs bathroom earlier, when the window flew wide open! It's bowing a gale here.
I got off toilet and crawled across floor, sneakily & quickly and shut the darn window!
There are houses to the side and back of us...
Have you had any recent embarrassing moments lately?

a pedant answers - well actually - project 1 in OU fluid dynamics is to model a tornado ( kinda difficult first off since the centre has special conditions ) and a pressure diff of 1/2 lb squinch ( eek fps ! metric please) - is not abnormal . normal pressure around 14 lb/sq in

this means that in a window say 3ft by 2 ft - 6 sq ft - 844 sq in - the diff will be 400 pds force which aint slight. ( direction - sucky sucky out)

People who have been in tornados describe the window and frames bending out to wards the sea a la Tom and Jerry( and then they shatter )

I wouldn't advise anyone to keep their windows shut tight 24/7, even on the coldest of days. During my time as a decorator, i have come across many houses which suffer from condensation. One of the main causes is poor ventilation, particularly during the winter months when folk are loathe to open their windows. It is therefore always best to have windows open, even for just short periods throughout the day to allow one's house to 'breathe'.

I always have to smile to myself when watching Escape to the Country and the prospective buyers see a lovely bathroom complete with roll top bath in front of a large window, no sign of any blinds or curtains, and enthuse about the lovely view. I care not that no other dwelling is apparent - have they not heard of drones for goodness sake? Even where I live drones come right over the house and garden from time to time.

My bathroom isn't overlooked at all, I think I would be flattered if someone went to the trouble of sending up a drone to perv on my old bones! I have enough trouble with the F15s and Ospreys low flying!

zebo, I know what you mean. We have loads of birds of prey and the screech owl sounds off most nights (how does it know I am getting ready for bed?). We also have chinooks going over every night, quite low flight, sometimes circling but always doing a return fly past. I need my beauty sleep!
