So, assuming the PM's criteria (infection rate, hospitalisations, vaccinations, etc.) are all met by then, just how much longer must the economy remain locked down in your opinion, Trevor? What would be your criteria for allowing businesses to resume trading?

The question really is, is there a criteria for opening up? The government seem to be waving the flag, that the vaccine is working, ( I hope it is) But my question would be, how do they know that to ( any degree) when we are still in lock down. The only sure way we will know is when lock down is over and everyone has had their vaccine, hence when will lock down finish. As they say how long is a piece of string.

Teacake the scientists have give several results of the researth showing the vaccinne is working , perhaps even better than hoped.

And the goverment / sage has said what the criteria is going to be for deciding whether to move onto next stage each time so the data as time be checked over with scientists

Yet again Bobb you have not read my post. How can you say the vaccine is working when we are still in lock down, we know from past experience that lock downs reduce infections, we have know experience or proof (yet) of the vaccine, ( without lock down)

Well we will have to bite the bullet sometime, sooner rather than later in my opinion, then we will know if the vaccine is working. We cant continue lockdown 'just in case'. As I have said many times, we are going to have to learn to live with it.

Yep for sure we will have to live with it. The only point I was trying to make was that, much like the flu vac, if everyone had the flu vac, and also went into lock down, there would be less deaths from flu.

There is overwhelming evidence from tests and research carried out that the vaccines are not only reducing deaths, and infections, but also it seems effective at reducing the spread of it.
All these measures are conditional on progress being made at each stage of the easing.
None of it is definite. On the other hand, what are you suggesting? Wait until there are no more cases before doing anything?
