Who decided the nominees? I hardly think Sugababes, Bananarama or Jennifer Lopez are bigger names than Bob Dylan, Bod Marley, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross or U2, all of whom were omitted. And were people really voting in their 'tens of thousands'? I find it highly dubious. Still, at least it was the right result in the end.
Totally agree with you robbo82. Stupid program, and all those guys you mentioned (Like Buddy Holly and Bob Dylan) are much better than the likes of the sugababes, etc. However, I am pleased Elvis won though. He is a true legend and has had bad press in this country for years. He could sing absolutely anything from Rock 'n' Roll to the blues and Country and Western, to Ballads or Operatic pop records. One gripe though, It should have been the Beatles in the final with him. The Beatles were a much better band then Queen (No Offence to Queen Fans intended) and like Elvis revolutionised the music business and are the only Band/Singer to rival Elvis in terms of hit records and World Wide popularity etc. If it had been a world wide vote, i'm sure no one else would have got within a mile of either of them!
