Always difficult for an Opposition leader to reply to a Budget when they've only had an hour to view its content. But Starmer is now a definite contender for the Geoffrey Howe Medal for coma-enducing drivel. None of the news bulletins this afternoon and evening could even find one sentence of his to use.
On the BBC news on Tuesday morning one of the reporters said that the press were given copies of "the proposed Budget" 24 hrs in advance so they could prepare their reactions and bulletins. It was "proposed" until it was read out in Parliament. Sure Mr Starmer would have had at least 24 hrs as well. He is the gift that keeps giving.
The leader of the opposition is obliged to say it's all rubbish to the Budget when they haven't had the proper time to fully analyze the details. It all seems a bit contrived. There were some good things in the Budget and some not so good things. Areas like social care, education, NHS and green issues were hardly mentioned at all
