tambo, and you don't trust the authorities to take account of legislation (which was democratically approved). I can see why you would want to make your voice heard if you see something bad (in your opinion) happening, but I have had my fill in my professional career of the angry brigade trying to impose their righteeous will on law-abiding people. We do have the right to protest, but we don't have the right to make our wishes come true.
I went on a demo down in London once, many years ago. It was to protest against the Canadians killing baby seals purely for their fur. We marched to the Canadian Embassy, there were thousands of us ! Sadly it didn't work, they are still killing them to this day, purely for their fur. Poor babies.
I joined in a few 'anti-Poll Tax' marches back in the day. Three or four 'local' and one march on London. Nothing but peaceful demonstrations intended in all of them, yet all bar one turned a tad nasty when others with a more sinister agenda joined in.
Don't believe anything would get me to join in another protest unless they announce they are doing away with the State Pension. I've only just started to receive it!!
