How do you look after monkey puzzle trees?
3 Answers
I have got 4 which I have grown from seed. They are about 2 inches in height.
Do I have to do anything special to keep them? I seem to remember reading somewhere that you have to bring them indoors for their first winter, any advice?

Hi Rainbow, I have one of these grown from seed from Argentinian stock. seed grown trees seem to make perfecty symetrical plants, unlike some I've seen in garden centrs which seem to have a sprawling / stragly habit which I guess are taken from cuttings or root suckers, I would think your seedlings will develope a superior root system too.
I think your right in thinking that they are too small / young to be kept outside in the UK, I potted mine on in sucsessively bigger pots for about 3 years until it reached about a 1ft or more then took it from the cool green house and planted it out in its permenant position outside and 5-6 years later its turned out to be a beautiful architectral specimin of about 5ft. Hope this helps too.. by the way, exellent site, skylight. Tbird+
