A spent ages on this even tho my first thought was raise cain something. Am sure previous ones have used all the words. Information could of been gen or news rather than data but if Raise Cain is the answer yes it don't matter.

Thank's danny. Yes a know now but that wasnt clear from the question. All day at work when had a free monment a was muttering "raise cane data" in diffrent accents trying to make something- nearest a got was raison detre

Bob, it was an error by the OP.Sometimes when you cant see the obvious answer from the first two clues you start looking at three clues which is what the OP had done.

when i used to do this crossword in the paper the linked clues were in italics, you don't get that benefit online
