The daughter of an elderly lady I know, bought her mother an expensive, very tasty, Dyson vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately it was too much for the lady. She couldn't use the attachments or figure out how to empty it, even after being shown, but found it hard to operate anyway because of her weak hands. So, she went and bought a Ewbank carpet sweeper for 17 quid. Friction power. She's delighted with it. Not so much the technology I suppose, more the user!

I have a good old carpet sweeper upstairs, it deals with the bedroom carpets as well as a vaccuum cleaner.
Give me a Henry any day. Simple, straightforward, and a lot easier to manage than the awkward & heavy Dyson upright.
I've more or less given-up on new technology.
Today I received an invitation for a swab to determine my Covid status a few days before my planned op. for cataract removal/replacement. It told me to arrive at the 'Testing Site' at a certain time, stay in my car and telephone a number to say I'd arrived. Err... my simple phone is somewhat erratic regarding signals and OH doesn't even try any more.

If no signal I will break the rules, stand outside my car and yell 'Yoo-hoo'. Fed up of all this techy stuff.
I've got a Ewbank in the garage, came from my late MIL's house.
I’ve got a Dyson and a Shark. Both supposed to be super-duper. I have to use both. The Shark to pick up my hair that would clog the Dyson; the Dyson for the bits of cat litter that the Shark spits out.
Sheesh!

Thanks for the replies folks. The lady in question has no grasp of modern technology. She watches television, doesn't own any modern appliances, not even a mobile phone. Apart from a fridge, microwave and a washer/dryer, that's it! She doesn't want any technology. Whatever suits, I suppose! hey ho.
Did she get return/resell it ... or is it just gathering dust
