However, as Alavahalf indicates, CDs been seen as 'old technology' for around a couple of decades. Car radios, for example, no longer come with CD players built into them and most hi-fi systems don't have CD players either. So you're probably going to have to buy a second hand unit on eBay or similar.
The way forward these days is to rip your old CDs to MP3 format (or to AAC if you want to retain the highest quality) and play them on your PC or laptop (connected to your hi-fi system) using a decent media player (which, in my opinion, definitely rules out Window Media Player). I have to admit to still liking CDs myself though. When I bought my all-singing, all-dancing internet radio last year, I made sure that I chose a model which still incorporated a CD player ;-)
