8 Answers
Hi for several days I have been trying to install a realtek rtl8139 pc card in my ageing computer running windows 98 se.It is meant to be plug and play but it isnt.
I have tried to install it manually but this model of card does not appear on the options .I have downloaded the driver from the realtek site but the computer instructs me to put in the windows disk and when I do it tells me that the file secur32.dll cannot be found.I have installed modems in the past without difficulty but this has got me beat any ideas would be appreciated thanks

Mmmm that's strange. I'm afraid you need someone much more knowledgeable than me. If I'm stumped I ask a question at http://www.allexperts.com/.
They're good. They won't reply immediately but they're supposed to reply within 3 days. You can ask questions on virtually any subject, it's just I use only the computer section.

Since the installation app. failed to find secur32.dll you will need to extract the file manually from your Windows 98SE installation disk.
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type sfc, and then press ENTER.
3. Click Extract One File From Installation Disk, type Secur32.dll in the Specify the file you would like to restore box, and then click Start.
4. Verify that the proper location for the installation source media is specified in the Restore From box, and that the location in the Save File in box specifies the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
5. Click OK twice.
When the process is finished, click OK
