What is really annoying is that every year, none of the reports of the increases in the SP ever mention the SERPS increase and there must be thousands of people who paid into it.
Oh and I was mistaken, it only ran for 14 years (not 18), I think it was the Graduated Pension before that.
is the increase not worth the postage then?
gill the 25p for over 80s is allways in addition to the normal state pension which is increased each yer by the triple lock amount. Yes 25p seems a trivial amount now but is worth £13 a year so bit more than a stamp...and there would be outrage and claims of penny pinching if the 25p was stopped or increased to something like 30p.
But as there are complaints each year about the 25p maybe they should scrap the 25p and just give everyone over 80 or 75 a one off £5. Whatever s done would upset someone
i am grateful i get the state pension now, no more wretched ESA form filling -
I know what it is annually but still seems a silly amount. Would think the admin costs far outweigh the benefit.
It was 25p in 1971 when it was introduced which would be about £2.50 odd now.
I agree that whatever is done would upset someone.
Agreed Gill but the political costs would outweigh any admin costs.
Both of us got our letters today.
had no post today, perhaps it will come in the next few days, week

Well we are now 10 days away from our SP rise and I still haven't had a letter. I usually get it much earlier than this. Is anybody else still waiting?
I'm just wondering, I shan't do anything unless I don't get the increase.
Yes, we had letters s couple of weeks ago.
Had my letter mid-Feb.
"Well we are now 10 days away from our SP rise and I still haven't had a letter."

I think it must have been lost or mis-delivered.
If you have had an income tax code notification it will show what your state pension will be.

Yes that's what I'vestarted to think Dave. Actually I do need to see it because they got it wrong last year, in my favour.
Sugar that probably means sitting on the phone for hours waiting to talk to someone.
//I think it must have been lost or mis-delivered//
that'll be two letters to my house lost or mis-delivered then

If I get a letter that's mis-delivered (right number wrong street or wrong number right street) I just take it round. Not everyone will.

If I get a letter not for me but the number & address are correct I open it & decide to bin it or return to sender.

Right off to look for my Tax Code Notice thanks NJ.
Is the rise 2.5% this year does anyone know?
yes it is.
Question Author
Thank you everyone. I've found the figure on my Tax Code Notice. Do I divide that by 52 or 52.3 or ??? to get the weekly rate? I've divided it by both and it's too much either way.
Yes, both me and my wife.
