I just saw this on the news.
The accused “is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and failure to report a collision.”

I hope he gets a long sentence.

Hope the driver gets the full 14 years for death by dangerous driving.
I hope the nice men in the prison he goes to discuss the error of his ways.
This man will get his just deserts.

Wont be the liberal judiciary that doles it out though.
i bet he doesn't get a long sentence... he should.
"Goodness knows how many more are driving around Birmingham without insurance"

Dunno about Brum but I think one of the cop shows gave an estimate of 1 million uninsured drivers in the UK. And that was probably 4 or 5 years ago. And uninsured drivers are more likely to be offending in other ways & more likely to be involved in accidents.
//And uninsured drivers are more likely to be offending in other ways & more likely to be involved in accidents//

I wouldn't have thought so. In fact I would have thought the vast majority drove with more care so they dont get their collar felt.

Insurance is not the big problem here though is it?

PMSL !!!
Being insured would not have prevented this incident.

1 million drivers uninsured every day in the UK
Around 3,000 drivers caught per day
1.5 million cars caught and seized in the last 10 years

4% of all drivers are driving without insurance.
If they are not insured & get clocked by the police a certain number will try to make off and the resultant car chase could end in a tragic accident (not saying this happened in this case).

In fact if they drive so recklessly as to be a serious danger to the public the cops will abandon the pursuit and let them go. If that's not an encouragement to go nuts I don't know what is.
Would you rather a police chase end in a fatality?
20.38,What has "no insurance" or tax got to do with this case Grumpy , this is a tragic loss of a young life and no amount of insurance payout can console the grieving young parents, you are talking as if , had the driver been insured and taxed the accident wouldn't have happened.
"you are talking as if had the driver been insured and taxed the accident wouldn't have happened."

If he had been the sort of person who abides by the law he would probably have been driving more carefully.
christ I thought ANPR was so efficient that you cdnt drive 50 y without being clocked.

it must be insured but youre not one of them ( on the insurance)
