Do you feed the birds every day? What do you usually put out? I buy fat balls and mealworms but I also put out scraps.x

I have two "suet logs" for the birds, hanging from my washing line. They arent feeding from them very quickly at all. The fat balls I throw on the lawn and they eat about 3 every couple of days.

I put out seed and leftover cat food.

Never feed the birds. They're there to feed on the garden pests. A lean bird is a keen bird.

There arent many flies and other insects about now though old geezer.The birds need all the food they can get.

We put out nuts, nyger, mixed seed, sunflowers, suet blocks and most importantly water. We normally have 4 feeding stations but we are down to one until Mr BM fixes the others.

no I gave up - I did buy a big bag of birdseed and I had left the bag outside and due to birds not eating, when I next looked at the bag - there were green leaves coming out of the seed, so I threw it out.

Depends on the quality of what you bought jj. Some bags are rubbish. Sunflower Hearts, Nyger Seed, Peanuts and decent Fat Balls and Fat Squares are all good. And of course Meal Worms, Live not Dried at this time of the year when mum's are feeding babies. Dry ones could choke a baby bird.

Yes I started putting out feeders around October. Yes I buy fat balls,seed etc. I also put bread and scraps,etc

JJ why don't you try a couple of fat balls or fat squares, the ones with mealworms in them are popular. You can hang them anywhere, and see how you go;-))

The RSPB recommend soaking the dried meal worms overnight, especially when baby birds are about.
I have a dish of water on my feeding station and two larger water dishes on my lawn. Theres no shortage of water for them.
