Hi emmie, I know you have been a bit worried about having your second Covid jab because of the side effects you got with the first one so, I thought you might like to know I had my second jab yesterday, and touch wood, I had no retching like I had with the first one. I know you had shivers and shakes with your first one, but hopefully you may not get that again with your second one.
I’ve also had my second AZ one. I had a reaction to the first but apart from a slightly sore arm for the rest of the day, I had no other reaction to the second vaccination.
It makes sense that a reaction would be less the second time. You've built up a bit of immunity with the first one, so your body doesn't have to fight so hard with the second.
I'm sure someone will be along shortly to say I don't know what I'm talking about...:)
If you had side effects first time round, its worth taking a couple of paracetamol before leaving home on jab day and a two every 4 hours for the following 24 hours.
That would make sense to me too Pasta but unfortunately all reports seem to be that any reaction to the 2nd dose seems to be a little bit worse than the first. Obviously that won't be everybody, best to probably grin and bear it.
I had a bad reaction to my first AZ vaccine but nothing at all after the second one. My friend, however, who was fine after the first jab is poorly after her second one. It seems quite random to me.
