...do we have a Stephen Lawrence Memorial Day?

I know it was awful what happened to him but what about about other families of murder victims? Why not have a memorial day for victims of Brady and Hindley? Or Fred and Rose West? Philpott? Harold Shipman? Why is Stephen Lawrence different?
maybe because the police were as it was put were largely racist organisation and they didnt take this seriously at the time.
I know that many murders have since taken place since then, but this shocked the nation out of its apathy to race relations.
Yes it was an iconic killing.
Also, it's likely the victim's family was keen on the idea.
I'm not sure the victims of serial killers would necessarily want a memorial day.
Neither am I itch, but has anyone asked the question? I agree that it was an awfull racist crime, but a National Memorial Day? Come on folks! That's a bit OTT, surely?
Anyway, why should I ignore it? I have an opinion about it. Oooo, you can't say such things! Got to be all condescending haven't we and don't upset anyone, right?
"The Day is marked officially in the British calendar as a celebration of Stephen’s life and legacy."
So not really the same as having a memorial day for the others. It's more than a memorial I think.
Aside from the practical consideration that there aren't enough days in the year.
I am sure every day is a private memorial day for the victims of countless murders.
Perhaps the "ignore it" suggestion was meant as in, you're not forced to observe it.
If you feel so strongly about other deaths being included or given their own memorial days, do something about it and write to your MP or start an online campaign.
