Since turning off ad-blocker I find things to run very slowly, while writing this I am frequently having to wait for the words to appear in spite of my two- finger typing. Is there any way to speed up and still disable ad-blocker. I have done the obvious such as clearing the cache.

It's called progress, donny. Progress and profit.

I suppose they can start again when it all gets too much for flesh and blood to bear and folk just wander off.

Is there nothing can be done, I understand the need for revenue but I would sooner pay an annual fee rather than this.
change your browser - try Chrome - my ads don't come up there
Question Author
I am using Chrome, Jenny.
ok - I changed from Edge to Chrome and that worked - hardly no ads.
What device are you using Donny?
Question Author
I am using a PC but this is becoming unusable, I have just had to switch AB off then on , it appeared to have stuck but now seem to be working at normal speed for typing.
Seems like it is sorted Donny.I don't think it was anything to do with turning off the ad blocker.
wasn't downloading updates in the background was it?
Question Author
Yes, as I said I understand the need for ads but the slowness was mind-numbing although as i write this things seem to be slowing slightly again.
Question Author
Ael, no updates loading but as i write this I am having to wait for script to catch up.

I have to leave now but will return later to see if anyone has a solution.
no such problems here with win 10 and edge . . .
It's got to be something wrong with your PC Donny.Switching off the Adblock has made no difference to the speed of my laptop.
donny, It looks to me like it's your PC doing other tasks in the background. Start up the Task manager and remove all the stuff you don't need. Then look at what gets started automatically. Most of it you don't need.
Question Author
Your Answer...TTT, I followed your suggestion and used task manager and by checking each process on the internet I have deleted some of those processes but still finding things slow. Since I do not know which are good and which are bad I was very cautious. I thought I was running AB on Chrome but find I am actually on Firefox and use Chrome for most other things. Could a change of browser help ?
Question Author
I have now un-installed then re-installed Fire Fox and things appear ok, Thanks for all help and suggestions.
I use FF occasionally & find it slow.
FF is slow for AB without an ad locker. I use chrome + an unmentionable ingredient for AB and FF+Ublock for most other things.
