Is there a legal age to live a child at home alone? Some friends say there is not and some some say that there is? I would like to know, even though my kids stay at an after school program. I live in Texas and I am curious to know if there is?

and so on this site you will get a UK answer. Yes there is a rule - because the Brits have a rule for everything - and it depends on the circumstances

Parents have been prosecuted in the UK for leaving a 12 yr old in charge of siblings while they went on holiday 3 weeks

but I dont think anyone here would turn a hair if the child of 12 were in charge 4-6pm until the parents returned from work.

you get the idea

Thebasic law here is the Children Act 1988 as amended and I think the 2004 edition is just out now !
