I have a lot of family pieces dotted around, which really are beautiful, and embroideries and paintings, but that’s it.
I suppose my ‘hoarder’ stuff would be clothes, although even they get recycled elsewhere if they’re not worn after a year or two.
Clutter makes me anxious.

I have a lot of my fathers things. He was a guitarist in a dance band.
His piano accordion,
Lots of Django Rheinhart LPs
Lots of Stephan Grappelli LPs
Hundreds of copies of Melody Maker newspapers
Loads of sheet music.
He has been dead for about 35 years now.
I don't really know what to do with them, they are just cluttering up the loft.

i have a filing cabinet full to brimming with paperwork, i can't get at it now as the fridge freezer is blocking it in, so have created another little folder for more paperwork, bills, hospital stuff etc, so i guess i am in a way. i have cleared out my wardrobe room endless times giving loads and loads to charity, but its still packed literally to the ceiling.
i hate mess so don;t have stuff just lurking around. its all in its place.

we have a security system in place, no one can just get in, you have to ring the intercom. i have never had any charity bags before. i just buy a big load of black sacks and put all the clothing in that. last time they collected the stuff, which was ok, as i don't drive, so would have no way of getting the stuff to them.
There's a strong association between hoarding when it becomes OCDish and Alzheimer's - and particularly if the hoarding was done at a young age.
Don't fret too much as it has to be in association with two or more other symptoms, of which there are about 12, and it's one of the reasons that it's hard to spot it. One can take three folk with dementia and they can show completely different characteristics - I termed it a Woolworth's 'pic-an-mix' when it came to the palette of possibilities.

Noone ever collects charity bags from where we are. Sometimes they have been left with a time they will be collected. But noone ever collects. Trouble is now, because I don't drive anymore I can't sneak OH stuff out of the house when he's not about. I must admit I have given up. He has been saying he will sort out the garage for decades. He goes in there and comes out with perhaps one bin liner of stuff. The garage is huge and also has large loft space. He is an avid recycler though, which is good.
In his case though, it was definitely a habit caused by his upbringing in unfortunate circumstances.
