do think Amanda should have gone to Primark and got brand new shirts/blouses, skirts/trousers for the new term. Hand me downs not today's standard. I am also sure the kids themselves would have loved brand new uniform.
I had a pair of second hand shoes - black patent with ankle straps from a posh girl whose family my mum cleaned for - I thought they were hideous! Also had second hand jodhpurs with the wide legs and a very nice riding mac which I used for years.
APG, I think what bednobs means , her daughters cardigans cost £15 each because they’re custom made with the school badge on them, a lot of schools practice this rip off
Being seven years younger than my sister I didn't ever get anything handed down from her when we were kids, but now she is in her seventies she gives me loads of stuff!
I’m the eldest but nevertheless, grew up with jumble sales or handmade clothes. We made our own skirts and dresses and grandmothers knitted the jumpers and scarves.
